Een film over het legendarische Griftheater, door Andras Hamelberg en Frits Vogels

 

Griftheater werd in 1975 opgericht door theatermaker Frits Vogels. Het mimegezelschap maakte grensverleggend beeldend bewegingstheater. Kunstenaars uit de dertiger jaren, Surrealisten en Dadaïsten maar ook Bauhaus waren een grote inspiratiebron. De locatie was bepalend voor de voorstellingen.

Van vrijwel alle Griftheater-producties zijn door Andras Hamelberg films gemaakt. Dit rijke archiefmateriaal vormt de bron voor een nieuwe film. Een lange periode is er voornamelijk met dezelfde spelers gewerkt. Hierdoor kunnen scènes en personen, door de tijd heen met elkaar verbonden worden en is er een spannend tijdloos mime-verhaal ontstaan. De kunstzinnige filmische vormgeving, waarin diverse kwaliteit video en filmopnamen samengebracht zijn, geeft daar nog een extra dimensie aan.

In 2003 is Griftheater opgeheven, de film ONOMICHI 1933 kan dan ook gezien worden als een nieuwe postume voorstelling van Griftheater.

A film about the legendary Griftheater, by Andras Hamelberg and Frits Vogels

 

Griftheater was founded in 1975 by theatre-maker Frits Vogels. The mime company made groundbreaking visual moving theatre. Artists from the thirties, Surrealists and Dadaists, but also Bauhaus were a great source of inspiration. The location was determinative for the performances.

Andras Hamelberg has made films of almost all Griftheater productions. This abundant archive material forms the source for a new film. For a long period Griftheater mainly worked with the same performers. This allowed scenes and persons to be connected over time and an exciting timeless mime story is created. The artistic cinematic design, in which various quality video and film recordings are intertwined, gives an extra dimension.

Griftheater ended playing in 2003, the film ONOMICHI 1933 can also be seen as a new posthumous Griftheater show.
